Background

I graduated in 2014 with a BSc in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Wolverhampton. I went into my undergrad with the intention of pursuing a career in agriculture or energy specifically with a food/energy security, through modules during my degree this interest was focused on bioenergy, the role it plays and its potential.

Research Interests

My interests are in the development, classification and treatment of feedstock. I think nutrient recovery is an important issue that certain areas within bioenergy will have to address and as such am interested in that area. I am also very interested in the role of policy and how it affects innovation and uptake of new Bioenergy technologies.

Why I chose the CDT in Bioenergy

Having already decided on a future in Bioenergy I wanted to find the course that would expand on my currently Biology focused expertise giving a greater breadth of knowledge before specializing in a chosen research area. The structure of the course as well as the interdisciplinary mentality of the centre convinced me that this was the right choice for me, and after contacting the centre manager I was confident that the MSc component would give me the opportunity to consider PhD areas with more Engineering/Chemistry than other course may allow.
