I am studying for an interdisciplinary MSc/PhD in the Doctoral Training Centre for Bioenergy

Hannah Birch

E: pmhfb@leeds.ac.uk

Background

University of York 2016 graduate with an Integrated Masters in Environmental Geography (MEnv). The Masters year focussed upon Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Research Interests

- Climate change and the societal impacts. Understanding best practice for mitigation of these impacts. With particular focus upon land use change, deforestation, and reforestation in tea and coffee growing regions.

- Use of by-products from the tea and coffee industry as bio-mass for energy production within supply chains.

Why I chose the CDT in Bioenergy

Initially I chose the CDT because of my interest in CSR, which fits in to the Whole Systems approach (Theme 4).  My background is not in Engineering, so the MSc year will allow me to identify gaps in my knowledge and gain experience in those areas particularly relevant to my future research.
