I am studying for an interdisciplinary MSc/PhD in the Doctoral Training Centre for Bioenergy
E: pmpc@leeds.ac.uk
Background
I gained my BSc in Applied Marine Biology from Heriot-Watt University in 2014, having completed my dissertation on biofuel production using marine bacteria. Wanting to further my knowledge of renewable technologies I went on to study for a MSc in Renewable Energy Development where I researched the feasibility of setting up a third generation biofuel industry in Scotland.
Research Interests
With a marine biology background I am interested in incorporating algae into our energy market. I am particularly interested in coupling energy production with nutrient and inorganics capture and recycling.
Why I chose the CDT in Bioenergy
Having a background in biology I saw the Masters portion of the CDT as a good opportunity to extend my knowledge into more technical/engineering subjects. I also liked the idea of studying alongside a cohort rather than doing a fairly solitary PhD.
