I am studying for an interdisciplinary MSc/PhD in the Doctoral Training Centre for Bioenergy
E: pmschi@leeds.ac.uk
Background
I graduated from the University of Bradford with a BEng (Hons) degree in Chemical Engineering. I entered the field of chemical engineering as I wanted to learn about different methods of developing clean renewable fuels and energies.
Research Interests
My interests are to improve my knowledge and understanding of biofuels and how they can be used to reduce carbon emissions. I am also interested in nanotechnology, and how the use of particles on a small scale can be manipulated to have significant impacts on industrial applications.
Why I chose the CDT in Bioenergy
With a background in chemical engineering, I wanted to focus on the renewable aspects of the field. As bioenergy is a constantly expanding research area, with countries wanting to move away from conventional crude oil and gas, it made sense further enhance my knowledge on biofuels. The reason why I chose the CDT course was that it included group based projects and there were a variety of options available to me. The CDT has also helped me in directing my focus into the field that I would like to research in.
